You CAN have an impact on government. If you write to your congressman you will be heard. I'm not saying that everything you suggest will be done, however you will be heard. If you and your neighbors and lots of other people in your state write to the congressman, I'd bet that they would be swayed to do what you request. They do remember how they got that fat, comfortable job. You voted them in. Please believe me and give it a try! If you just sit there and complain or think to yourself what ever is on your mind, then you have NO RIGHT TO COMPLAIN. Write today!
Listed here are issues that I believe will help our government become more responsible to the people it supposedly serves. Please join me in writing to and calling your representatives to have these measures implemented into law.
Riders are a way to add something to a bill before it gets discussed or voted on. Riders often have nothing to do with the bill. The extras are normally added to a popular bill that is expected to pass. This is where most of the government PORK comes from. Many unpopular bills are shuffled though congress this way too.
The National ID Card law was "piggybacked" onto an Iraq war spending bill
and hardly even noticed never mind questioned.
Stop riders!
Without riders, EVERY bill would have it's own title and have to pass on it's own merit. Let's not call a bill to give $10,000 to chicken farmers a Defense bill! Call it what it is. If it can't pass by it's self then it shouldn't pass at all.
