First know and understand that God created us to have a relationship with Him. A personal relationship like you would have with your spouse or a close family member. This all comes apart due to the fact that we sin. A sin is any thing we do that is contrary to Gods nature. Unfortunately, we all have sinned. No exceptions! It only takes once to mess up our relationship with God. You see God is perfectly just and holy and can not tolerate any sin. There is also the problem that there is nothing we can do to make up for it. You can't do something good to make up for some bad thing you may have done. When we get to heavens gate, God will not want to know how much good and bad we have done to see which is greater. One sin and it is all messed up. God can not allow us into heaven. So it sounds like God is going to be pretty lonely up there in heaven by Himself. This would be true if it were not that God made a way for all our sins to be forgiven.
He sent His son Jesus. Jesus is God Himself. He was born of a virgin, lived a perfect, sinless life and was crucified. On the third day after His crucifixion, He rose from the grave to prove that He is God and to defeat sin and death forever. His death on the Cross that day is sufficient payment for all the sins ever committed by all the people who ever lived and who ever will live. There is no sin that is too bad to be forgiven by what Jesus has done.
You can have this forgiveness by simply believing it. You don't have to cut your hair, start talking a certain way, start hanging out with different people or anything. Just believe. If God sees things in you that will need to change, He will take care of it in His time and in His way. But don't worry, remember God loves you more than people are capable of understanding.
If you want to make this decision, please e-mail or call me so we can talk. I'd love to hear about it.
By the way, αγαπε (agape) means love. Agape is the kind of love that is pure. Agape love is A spirit of self-sacrifice that results in action. It is the kind of love that God has for us.
